The idea of replacing your windows or doors can be a little intimidating. At the Window Source of Nashville we want to address some frequently asked questions because we find that many of our homeowners are unaware of how window installation can be.
We want to make sure that our Nashville area clients are fully aware of what to anticipate during the installation process. These are some of the most typical inquiries about replacement windows and doors that we receive from clients.
1. Window Installation Gets Underway
In around three weeks, your order will be ready for installation. Every time someone from our team is on the way, they will phone you to let you know. Our friendly and knowledgeable crew members will give you a rundown of what the day will include. Your installation could take as little as a few hours or as long as two days, depending on the work involved.
If window blinds need to be taken down, you will be made aware of this in advance. With new windows from The Window Source of Nashville, there is no need to spend more on updating your blinds — the replacement windows will accommodate your existing window coverings.
2. Removing the Old Windows
When removing your old windows, your floors will be protected by our team. The thin piece of wood that runs vertically between the window sashes and the window trim, known as the window stop, will be removed and the outdated wooden sashes and sash rails will be eliminated without endangering the internal molding that already surrounds your windows. After the window installation, there won’t be a need to repair the interior trim.
3. New Windows Are Put in Place
The installation crew will make sure the window opening is clean and clear of any debris. Next, your new vinyl double-hung windows will be installed in the existing opening and checked for proper alignment. The window will be plumb, level, and square when fastening the window to the frame. The window will be tested to make sure it is operating correctly. The installation crew will make sure the window has been insulated on the exterior of the home as well. Finally, the window stop will be reinstalled to its original position and caulked for an airtight seal.
4. That’s it!
